"It's a visa!"

Dear Aiston,

After two years and two months, we have finally accomplished the last step towards making our way to your other home since we began the process of finding you. Two years and two months ago, your Daddy and I were attending a meeting all about adoption. Fast forward to today, and we have been granted your tourist visa, which means you can travel outside of your birth country and visit your other home in the United States (or, as you like to say, "Shougal River!").

Phew.

What a journey it's been. At times exhilarating (like when we finally decided adoption was meant to be for our family, and when we saw your bright dark brown eyes and dimples for the first time, and when we brought you home for forever), at times utterly disheartening (like when we got lost on our way to meet you for the first time, and when we didn't hear from the judge about your adoption decision for over six months, and when I literally spent hours upon hours waiting, begging and crying for the release of your documents so we could get your passport and your visa in time to go home), YOU were were worth every single moment. And you always will be.

Congratulations, my son. Now, you will get to know your American family, who can't wait to meet you. And you will get to throw rocks in the Shougal River.

Finally.

I love you with all my might,

Mommy
